That is so funny! I bet everyone has a great pee their pants story, I know I do. Maybe your book will save the little ones years of therapy when they grow up.

Hee hee, thank you! And yes, I hope kids will feel seen when they read it and that laughing about it will release at least a bit of the shame :)

LOVE this cover and story and LOVE that you shared your origin story! Bertie is going to be the perfect Pee ambassador (peebassador? 🤔) for kids, showing them both the heart and humor of an unexpected pee situation!! I don't have any pee memories but I definitely remember a #2 one when I was playing with older kids at my babysitter's house. I remember thinking... well, I am just a little kids so 🤷‍♀️ haha

Aww thank you, Celia! And haha I love that -- Bertie the peebassador.

And oh my goodness, it sounds like you were able to keep your cool even in a social situation with older kids. Pretty darn impressive! I imagine little Celia calmly taking care of the situation and returning to play haha

I peed my pants in class all over the carpeted floor. The teacher had been getting cranky with so many kids asking to go to the toilet, so I just didn't ask and then wet myself ... I moved to a whole new school after that to escape the mortification. Well, that wasn't actually the reason but it was a wonderful perk of getting to start all over again lol.

Oh Melissa, I'm so sorry that happened to you! Glad you got a fresh start though. I know quite a few people who had that same anxiety about asking to go to the bathroom because they could feel the frustration of adults. Sending little you a hug!

Aww thank you for the hug! Right back at you! Yes, it seems to be a common thing. I also have selective mutism so speaking to ask anything at all was a big deal. If a teacher was cranky, it definitely wasn't going to happen!

Oh wow, that must have been so hard! Glad you can have compassion for your past self!

I have both peed and pooed my pants (the poo was on a school hike and though no one found out it was still mortifying!!! And gross!!!) I really love that you turned this into a story! Kids are gonna love it! And I treasure that sleepover memory where a friend also peed their pants 🥹

Thank you, Carolyn :) And nooo, not the school hike! I know someone else who had that happen as well and I can just feel that "there's no bathroom what do I do" anxiety. The worst!

I never peed in school but I have wet the bed! We can still be PFFs, right?! Can’t wait for the world to see this book! Congratulations, friend!

Oh wetting the bed totally counts and is its own big experience -- definitely PFF material ;) We'll make sure to finalize it with your very own certificate and sticker, of course :P

Thank you so much, dear Angela!

This book sounds fantastic. I think we underestimate how much of our kids lives are spent fearing this kind of potty embarrassment - I once peed in my closet while sleep walking and would die if my parents tried to share it w any of my friends growing up. Love that you channeled this memory into something that can help and is funny. 👍💪

Aww thank you, Jacob! And oh my gosh, sleepwalking adds a whole new layer because you have no awareness of it -- it really adds to that "I have no control!" anxiety. I feel for little Jacob.

I think you are right that we forget just how scary that was as a kid. When I hear adults dismissing kid emotions (most of the time unintentionally), I always remember little Rachel standing in shame while the office lady bubble wrapped her chair. That lady didn't mean any harm -- she just had forgotten what it is like to pee her pants (which is actually a line in the book haha). It motivates me to remember and honor those kid emotions as intense, very real things.
