I must admit I am biased. Of course SF and Portland have pretty active kid lit cohorts, but Seattle area does too. There are some great areas all around western WA. Best of luck in finding a job and a new gang of friends.
Best of luck!!! We moved away from Oklahoma 12 years ago (we wanted out of there for quite a while) and we landed happily in SW Washington where we enjoy Washington and vist Oregon often! Have fun on your adventure!!!
