I love MWB and Mac Barnett’s picture book biography of her so very much. Have you read the biography The Great Green Room by Amy Gary? It’s a great read for anyone who wants to do a Margaret Wise Brown deep dive.
I don’t blame that librarian for not liking Goodnight, Moon! It does sound like THAT KID who refuses to go to sleep. You know, the one who asks to go to the bathroom, get a bit of water, maybe one more book…..
Ah, what a perfectly strange and inspiring read! The tombstone is my fave! And Wild Things! Acts of Mischief in Children's Literature is SUCH a great book! And finally - RLS is no joke, I've had intense bouts of it in the past. Glad the melatonin is working for ya this round.
Well, this was just delightful. (Except for the part about your Restless Legs -- my mom has it and it is 100% real. At various points she has tried some seriously wacky things, including putting a bar of soap under the sheets the end of the bed? Which apparently kind of works? Just passing on that little gem... hope things ease up soon.)
What a great MWB post! She never ceases to amaze me, and the same goes for you! Thanks for the mention! And I have RLS and it’s the WORST!!!

So insightful, thank you for the inspiration! I hope you get lots of rest and feel better soon.
Read this before a writing session because I KNEW it would start me up!

Such a lovely article. Picture books are the first time children are exposed to literature and art - so important for these tiny new people :)
