Summary
As we watch the life of a truck, we witness the life of a girl.
First line
“On a small farm, an old truck worked hard.”
Favorite line
“The new farmer grew weary and tired. But she dreamed and persisted. VROOOM!”
The play between the text and illustrations is powerful in this book. The text is about an old truck, but really it is about a family going through changes and working hard to achieve their dreams.
The illustrations are gorgeous. I love how they showed the passing of time on every page. Even when the truck didn’t move, other things changed around it.
This story uses layering so well. We have the old truck, the family, the passing down of tradition, dreams and hard work, new beginnings and old roots. I love this book!
