Summary
A storm forces a family to navigate the challenges of staying indoors.
First line
“A storm came to our town. It was unlike any storm we’d ever seen.”
Favorite line
“There was nothing to do, and too much time to do it.”
I love how this story shows how a family navigates challenges and comes out stronger in the end. This book captures the feeling of anger that can permeate an entire house. Those moments when everyone wants to be alone and has run out of nice things to say. It felt refreshing to pick up a book that portrayed these feelings honestly and courageously.
I also love Dan’s graphic style. His use of color to portray emotion—the dad’s red anger, the lonely blue of night, and the yellow hope of light.
