Oh hi there!
This week we packed up all of our things into storage, cleaned the house, passed our inspection with flying colors (phew!), had our “Later Gator” party at a park with food and a little dancing, and…
CELEBRATED MY SUPER DUPER OFFICIAL DEBUT BOOK ANNOUNCEMENT!
I’ve had an idea for a silly video announcement for a while now, so I made it (then almost chickened out) and shared it on Instagram, Twitter, and Tiktok. I hope it makes you laugh.
A big THANK YOU to everyone who has celebrated with me so far. Future me will also do more funny videos, original art giveaways, behind-the-scenes stories, and other fun stuff tied to my book (mainly here AT THE KID TABLE and on Instagram) so stay tuned!
Moving adventure update
We leave for our Bay Area adventure tomorrow! We’ll drive seven hours to Reno. And then Thursday we’ll drive 5 hours to our hotel right next to the ocean. We’ll stay there for a few days and then in an AirBNB in San Leandro for a MONTH!
Any Bay Area recs for food or fun?
On the way, we might listen to some Armchair Expert (one of our favorite podcasts), or Spoiled Brats by Simon Rich (hilarious and thought-provoking short stories). The summary is “Twenty years ago, Barney the Dinosaur told the nation's children they were special. We're still paying the price.” So good, right? Now I want to watch the movie An American Pickle which was inspired by one of the stories.
We may also listen to the playlists we made for our Later Gator party. If you want some great music to eat to, go here.
If you want a carefully curated list of songs that will make it hard not to dance (get your exercise in for the day in a fun way!), go here. The first song is extra special because our six-year-old niece requested it. When she was two years old, we turned it on and danced with her and it became a tradition. One of my favorite moments at the party was dancing with her.
Well, wish me luck on this big, crazy adventure. Thanks for sitting with me AT THE KID TABLE this week!
See you next time! I’ll save you a seat ;)
Your feeling-excited-about-the-adventure-and-sad-about-the-goodbyes friend,
Rachel
!!!! Congrats !!!!
