Summary
A kid describes what life on earth is like to an alien.
First line
“Dear Visitor from Outer Space, If you come to Earth, here’s what you need to know.”
Favorite line
“These are the colors you need to paint everything in the world.”
What a strong concept! I fell in love with the narrator’s voice as I witnessed him writing a letter to an alien.
I loved the kid voice like: “Ours is the greeny-blue one.” And I loved the specific details like: “Some things are invisible. Wind - invisible cloak -ghosts - gravity - electricity - the smell of roast chicken, old socks, frangipani, wet wool”
And of course, Sophie’s illustrations are gorgeous and diverse. I could see the personality of every character in those tiny details.
