Oh hi there!
I can’t believe that HOW TO PEE YOUR PANTS: THE RIGHT WAY comes out in less than one month.
I’ve got a lot of stuff planned. Beautiful books. Stickers. Presentations. A book tour. Oh my goody gumdrops.
Please consider this your official invite to the coolest pee pants parties of the year! (You may wonder how I determined “coolest,” but in this case it’s a no brainer because I happen to be the only person in the world throwing pee pants parties this year. Who knew?)
Okay, let’s start with a cute, lil’ overview of events:
Now for some breaking sticker news, event info, rsvp links, and more :0
I designed a sticker just for you!
If you preorder my book from Brick & Mortar Books, they’ll mail you a signed copy and this PFF sticker! (If you live in Washington, you can pick up your book and sticker at my launch party.)
The King’s English Bookshop is another great place to preorder a copy of my book, especially if you are coming to my Utah event.
P.S. Just in case anyone feels left out, I’ll also give away free stickers at events.
BOOK TOUR PARTIES!
Watch out world, I’m making mischief and causing chaos from Washington to Utah to California. The only way I know how to celebrate this book is to have some absurd pee pants fun including book swaps, giveaways, draw offs, and gallons of lemonade (uh oh).
FOR EVERYONE
Saturday, October 12 at 10:00-10:30 AM PST: Virtual sneak peek party
Listen, if I had all the money in the world, I would fly to every state and celebrate with everyone I know. But unfortunately I don’t, so I’m doing the next best thing which is a virtual celebration with all of the friends I wish I could visit. I’ll share a sneak peek of the book, answer questions, and do a giveaway of free prizes. (But please always remember that the real prize is friendship. Cue touching music.)
RSVPee here to get the Zoom link.
FOR WASHINGTONIANS
Tuesday, Oct 15 at 6:30 PM PST: Launch party at Brick & Mortar Bookstore in Redmond, WA
Join me and the talented author Martha Brockenbrough as we celebrate friendship with a book reading, Q&A, delicious snacks, and a game of Mystery Book (like White Elephant but better). Also we’ll have bubble-wrap capes, so you probably don’t want to miss this.
For more details and to RSVPee, go here.
FOR UTAHNS
Saturday, October 19 at 11:00 AM - 11:30 AM MST: Storytime at The King’s English Bookshop in Salt Lake City, Utah
In magical storytime fashion, we’ll read the book together. We’ll laugh and mingle. I’ll personalize and sign copies. It will be a downright delightful time at one of my all-time favorite bookstores.
For more details and to RSVPee, go here.
FOR UTAH authors and illustrators
Saturday, October 19 at 12:30-6:00PM MST in Millcreek, Utah: I’m giving two presentations at SCBWI’s Fall Conference about how to transform your creative walls into bridges and trick yourself into doing the work. It’s an all day event with tons of amazing workshops from literary agents, editors, and more. Sign up here.
Also if you are attending the conference and you order my book from The King’s English, I’ll bring your signed copy and sticker with me to the presentation. (Just leave a note in their checkout comments section.)
FOR BAY AREA babes and babies
Saturday, October 26 at 11:30am - 12:30 pm PST: DRAW OFF at the Berkeley Public Library (2090 Kittredge St.)
This event will include a reading, Q&A, and a good, ol’ fashioned DRAW OFF. You will have the chance to tell me and author-illustrators Bo Lu (Bao’s Doll) and Eugenia Yoh (This is Not My Home) what to do! We will probably sweat, you will probably laugh, and a debut will be celebrated (hopefully the right way). The event will conclude with a book signing.

Alright, that’s all the event announcements for now. I hope I’ll see you there!
And just in case you didn’t get enough kid table vibes from this announcement post, here are two videos that made me laugh this week:
A video that is basically me as a child trying to play team sports of any kind — the pressure always got to me and my limbs stopped working.
A video that is basically me as an adult right now trying to do anything.
Trade-sies!
Now it’s your turn. It’s that special kid table moment when you trade your dad’s famous chocolate chip cookies for your favorite fruit snacks — but we’re trading things that make us feel like a kid again.
Choose one or more kid table vibes to share:
What is your favorite book related event that you’ve ever attended and why?
Are you good at sportsing? Or does the team pressure get to you like it does to me?
What has made you laugh lately?
How are you doing? Like really doing?
A big thank you to the sponsors of this post!
Thanks to Whiskey Geraldine for our podcast music and Joanna Rowland, Marietta Apollonio, Saki Tanaka, Angela Pham Krans, Nyasha Williams, Pamela A Mathy, and Martha Brockenbrough for sponsoring this newsletter.
(Paid subscriptions are on pause at the moment while I catch up on the time I was away.)
Thanks for sitting with me AT THE KID TABLE today.
Until next time! As always I’ll save you a seat right next to me. (Maybe even in person at one of these events.)
Your can’t-believe-she-gets-to-travel-around-for-her-book friend,
Rachel
WHOOHOOOO! Can't wait!
It’s a FANTASTIC book and I’m so proud of you! (I am, though, super mad that I’m going to be returning from a family vacation to Mexico during your virtual event and thus can’t make it 😑)
